Workshops ARE for everyone

One of the things I hear from new students regarding workshops is this, “I don’t think I can do 8 hours of yoga.”
And, you know what? I get it! I felt that same way when I signed up for my first 12-hour workshop. But, you know what else? I did it. In some ways, it was surreal. Most of the students were decades older than I was with hip, knee and shoulder replacements. I was surrounded by people with conditions I couldn’t understand. One thing we seemed to have in common was that we had all been through the gambit of different modalities. We all agreed this one was the most interesting.
How did I make it through the 12 hours? Well, it was four distraction-free days immersed in learning, listening, laughing and asking lots of questions. It was one of the most collaborative moments in my life. Spending time with people with unique stories, none of which I wanted. And, by the way, no one was looking for nerve pain either. So there we were learning from each other. That’s how made it through and it was, for me, life changing.
